Mootaz Salman awarded title of Associate Professor and named winner of the Biochemical Society Inspiration and Resilience Award in 2027

The Kavli Institute for Nanoscience Discovery is delighted to congratulate Mootaz Salman on being awarded both the title of Associate Professor by the University of Oxford, and the Biochemical Society Inspiration and Resilience Award in 2027.

Dr Salman, whose research focuses on understanding how blood-brain barrier and vascular dysfunction in the brain drives disease and how this can be translated into meaningful therapeutic strategies, said that he was 'very pleased to receive this recognition' and praised the support of his 'excellent team, past and present'. He expressed his gratitude to 'colleagues from across DPAG, the Kavli Institute and the BHF/UKDRI' as well as the funding bodies that enabled his work.

The Biochemical Society Inspiration and Resilience Award 'recognises scientists who have demonstrated exceptional perseverance alongside impactful contributions to their field'. On hearing the news, Dr Salman said,'I am deeply honoured to receive this award. For me, resilience is not just about overcoming challenges, but about turning them into momentum for science, for people, and for the next generation.'
