Four Kavli INsD Research Groups achieve Silver LEAF Award for sustainable practices

We are delighted to share that, as of today, Robinson, Benesch, Baldwin and Kukura Research groups that are based in the Kavli Institute for Nanoscience Discovery labs achieved the Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework (LEAF) Silver award for their sustainable practices.

The LEAF is an accreditation scheme designed to drive efficiency improvements by helping to identify practical steps to make the laboratory more sustainable.

To attain the award for sustainable practices, the Groups participated in a recent audit; this included an assessment of their measures around waste management, as well as energy savings such as ensuring all equipment, monitors, fume hoods, lights, etc. were switched off when not in use.

Since April 2021, Oxford University's KAVLI Institute for Nanoscience Discovery is proudly serving as a hub for research groups from seven different departments spanning both the medical and physical sciences, including Robinson, Benesch, Baldwin, and Kukura Groups from the Department of Chemistry.
