We are delighted to announce that Dr Dominika T. Gruszka will be joining Kavli INsD and the Department of Physics in March 2022. Dominika has been awarded a Royal Society and Wellcome Trust Sir Henry Dale Fellowship to investigate the molecular mechanisms of histone inheritance during DNA replication. She will join us from the Francis Crick Institute in London.
Dominika’s research interests lie at the interface of biology, chemistry and physics. Her early work focused on the biophysics of bacterial biofilms. More recently, she has developed a real-time single-molecule imaging platform to monitor histone dynamics during DNA replication in Xenopus laevis egg extracts. In her fellowship, Dominika will evolve this methodology to uncover how specific post-translational modifications and histone variants affect chromatin dynamics during DNA replication.
